Unbreak My Heart

Heartache.

It can almost feel bittersweet, for example you say a melancholic farewell to someone you love, but you know you’ll be seeing them again soon.

Or the aching heart which feels as though your heart is too big for your chest, because you are witnessing something beautiful and rare.

Or a heartache which might feel like actual pain in your chest, which has you wondering whether you should call triple zero, 911 or whatever the emergency code is in your country.

The latter feeling is definitely stressful.  A friend had that feeling years ago, when she was a young woman.  She was having a quiet, uneventful Saturday alone, but feeling most unlike herself.   The dull ache in her chest persisted to the point that she wondered if she should indeed seek medical attention.

And then the phone rang.  One of her sons had had an accident; not life threatening, but enough to require surgery.  Suddenly the pain made perfect sense to her. Strange but true.

They say people can die of a broken heart, and we’ve all heard of couples who die within weeks or months of each other.  Their poor hearts.

Have you felt heart ache that you’d be willing to share on this forum? Love to hear your thoughts.
